I think this experiment in no Targeting is really going to turn into no Targeting plus getting rid of the accumlulated stuff that is the result of all my shopping. I've really just go so much stuff that I neither love nor have sentimental value to me. The title quote from Sheryl Crow's song Soak up the Sun really sums this up well. I don't love what I have. My kids for sure don't love the things they have and I think they think toys and clothes are disposable.
I dropped a few bags of clothes, old coats and Christmas decorations off at ARC yesterday. We had taken down our Christmas decorations down and for the first time I got rid of decorations that I was given as gifts. One thing in particular was fugly as hell, but I had kept it out year after year because my dad gave it to me. He probably doesn't even remember he gave it to me so I'm not sure why I was hanging on to it. That was the first thing to go in the give away box. I dropped it off at ARC and it felt good.
This week I'm going to focus on our basement bedroom. My 7 things will come out of there. I would like the room to be a place where guests could actually sleep without having to shove crap off the bed before they can stay in there.

It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got
